EASUN inverter monitoring over the Eybond Wi-Fi logger
Deye-HomeMonitor is not only for Deye inverters. Since version R1-V1.02l it also reads EASUN inverters (iSolar SMX-II, SMH-II/III, SMG-II and related models sold under other brands) through their Eybond Wi-Fi logger – the same one that feeds the SmartESS app. PV production, battery, house consumption and grid appear in real time on a photorealistic scene of your house, on Windows and Android, locally and without any cloud.
Which EASUN inverters the app knows
- EASUN iSolar SMX-II (e.g. SMX-II-3.6KW, 24 V, serial number "SR-…") – Modbus SRNE protocol. Verified with a customer: battery (SOC, voltage, current), temperatures, voltages; PV balance under verification.
- EASUN iSolar SMH-II / SMH-III and other Voltronic/Axpert-class inverters – PI30 protocol (QPIGS, QMOD, QPIRI queries). Not yet verified on a real unit.
- EASUN iSolar SMG-II – Modbus SMG protocol (classic layout and "protocol 3–6"). Not yet verified on a real unit.
The app detects the protocol automatically (from the logger's UART settings and the inverter's reply), or you choose it by hand. Logger: Eybond Wi-Fi Plug Pro RTU (firmware 3.6.6.6 verified) or other Eybond loggers known to the SmartESS app. Wi-Fi modules of other brands (e.g. PowMr) are not read.
How it works
The Eybond logger is not a server – it connects to the SmartESS cloud by itself. The app therefore sends it a single request on the local network to connect to the app while it reads, then only asks the inverter for values (Modbus function 0x03 or PI30 queries) and never writes to it. When you close the app the logger returns to the cloud on its own; while the app reads, SmartESS may temporarily show no new data. Everything stays in your network – no manufacturer account, no extra hardware.
What you will see
- PV production (PV1, PV2), battery – SOC, voltage, current and charge direction, house consumption, grid voltage and frequency, inverter temperatures.
- House with energy flows, daily production and consumption, today's charts and a 7-day history.
- Weather forecast with a production estimate and optionally the Solcast forecast.
Setting it up in the app
- Install the app from the Download page and activate the free licence.
- Settings → General → Inverter: choose EASUN.
- EASUN tab: enter the logger IP address (from your router; the network search does not work for Eybond),
app port
8899, refresh interval and inverter protocol Automatic. - EASUN diagnostics → Connect and test: the app shows the logger PN and firmware, the detected protocol, the inverter serial number and the first values. On Windows allow the app through the firewall when asked.
- Save – the dashboard switches to the EASUN inverter.
Help us verify
If the values in the app differ from the inverter display, send us a photo of the display and a screenshot of the app from the same minute plus the log export (Settings → Logs → Export) via the contact form. We will then add your model to the compatible and tested devices. The Home Assistant integration currently supports Deye inverters only.
Frequently asked questions
Does Deye-HomeMonitor work with EASUN inverters?
Yes, in trial operation. The app reads EASUN inverters through the Eybond Wi-Fi logger (the one the SmartESS app uses) with the PI30, Modbus SMG and Modbus SRNE protocols. On a customer's iSolar SMX-II the battery, voltages and temperatures are verified.
Do I need extra hardware for an EASUN inverter?
No. The Eybond Wi-Fi logger shipped with the inverter and a PC or phone in the same home network are enough. The app is free after registration.
Does it work without the SmartESS cloud?
Yes. The app asks the logger to connect to it on the local network while it reads; when you close the app, the logger returns to the cloud by itself. Data never leaves your network and the app never writes to the inverter.
